Dr. Jhosdyn Barragan is a dedicated general dentist at RenovaSmiles, proudly serving patients throughout Northern Virginia. He is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles through personalized care, advanced technology, and a commitment to clinical excellence.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Barragan moved to Virginia at a young age and has proudly called the area home ever since. A graduate of the Honors College at James Madison University, he earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and completed his thesis in organic chemistry. He then continued his education at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, the world’s first dental school, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

During dental school, Dr. Barragan developed a deep appreciation for serving others through dentistry. He participated in numerous Mission of Mercy clinics and was selected as one of only five students to partner with Medical Ministry International on a dental outreach mission in Central America, providing care to underserved communities. These experiences reinforced his belief that dentistry has the power to improve not only oral health, but also confidence, well-being, and quality of life.

Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Barragan has pursued extensive continuing education in implant, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry. He completed both the Standard and Advanced Dental Implant Live Patient Courses through the International Training Center, an intensive surgical training program focused on implant placement, bone preservation, and comprehensive case management. This advanced training has strengthened his ability to provide predictable, evidence-based implant treatment and comprehensive tooth replacement solutions.

Dr. Barragan has also pursued advanced cosmetic dentistry training, completing the Art of Ceramic program led by Dr. Andi-Jean Miro, a nationally recognized cosmetic dentist known for creating exceptional esthetic results. This intensive program focused on smile design, porcelain veneers, facially driven treatment planning, esthetic principles, and preparation design. Through his training, Dr. Barragan refined his ability to blend artistry and function to create natural-looking, personalized smile transformations.

Known for his friendly and approachable manner, Dr. Barragan takes pride in building long-term relationships with his patients. He believes that exceptional dentistry begins with trust, communication, and a genuine understanding of each patient’s goals and concerns. By taking the time to listen and educate, he helps patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their treatment journey.

Outside the office, Dr. Barragan enjoys spending time with his wife, Veronica, their daughter, and their two goldendoodles, Murphy and Rio. He loves traveling and experiencing new cultures, believing that broad perspectives contribute to both personal and professional growth. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, reading, staying active through sports—especially golf—and exploring the outdoors with his family.
